    • Sculptra Aesthtic

Sculptra Before and After Sculptra Aesthetic is a new facial injectable treatment indicated for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial folds, commonly called smile lines, contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles which are treated with the appropriate injection technique in healthy people. It works gradually to replace collagen that is lost during the aging process.

WHAT IS THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF FACIAL AGING?
The collagen beneath the skin is a key element that provides volume and gives shape to your face. At about age 30, collagen begins to break down. As a result, wrinkles, lines, and folds gradually appear and worsen with time.

      WHAT IS SCULPTRA AESTHETIC?
Facial injectables other than Sculptra Aesthetic immediately fill in wrinkles, lines, and contour deficiencies and create an immediate and stark difference to how the person looked prior to being injected. This can often create an uncomfortable situation for the patient in regards to having to address their new look. Sculptra is different in that it gradually replaces lost collagen and provides structure that lets your new look emerge more discreetly and can last up to 2 years.

Sculptra Aesthetic contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. PLLA is biocompatible, which means that it will not harm your body. PLLA has been used for many years in dissolvable stitches and medical implants, and has been cosmetically used in Europe since 1999.

      HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?
Sculptra first replaces collagen. PLLA, the main component of Sculptra Aesthetic works within the deep dermis to replace lost collagen. Second it restores volume. As collagen is replaced, it provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness by correcting your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds.

      HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
An average number of treatments sessions of Sculptra Aesthetic is 3 injection sessions over a few months. Sessions are usually set every 4-6 weeks. The sessions are spread out this way because Sculptra Aesthetic gradually replaces lost collagen to restore a natural looking appearance that can last up to 2 years. The time between sessions allows enough time for Dr. Ross to fine tune your treatments.

ARE THE RESULTS OF SCULPTRA IMMEDIATE?
Sculptra Aesthetic is a subtle, gradual treatment that doesn't make you immediately look like you had work done. You didn't age overnight so why should you anti-age over night?

HOW LONG DOES SCULPTRA AESTHETIC LAST?
Sculptra Aesthetic creates results that can last up to 2 years.

    • botox sub head

      Botox ImagesWHAT IS BOTOX?
Botox is a purified protein administered in a simple non-surgical procedure that improves the appearance of frown lines and wrinkles between the brows, banish neckbands, and clear away crow's feet. Botox has been used therapeutically for over 15 years. The FDA as well as in 75 other countries approves it. Over 3 million procedures are administered every year. According to a recent survey by Dermatologists, Botox has the highest perceived patient satisfaction rating of all physician-administered treatments.

WHAT CAUSES FROWN LINES BETWEEN THE BROWS?
The lines that appear between the brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When those muscles contract, they draw the brows together. As skin becomes less elastic over time, repeated frowning results in lines between the brows.

      WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?
Treatments are quick and minimally invasive. Dr. Ross will make a few tiny injections into the muscles that cause frown lines between your brows. She will determine exactly where to administer the injection to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required but for comfort Dr. Ross usually numbs the area with an anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes about 10 minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. Normal activities can be resumed immediately.

WHAT KIND OF RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED?
Results will be noticeable within days of treatment and will last up to 4 months.

DOES BOTOX HELP WITH OTHER CONDITIONS?
YES. Botox is also FDA approved for severe underarm sweating when topical agents do not work. Botox helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. This stops severe sweating.

WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR BOTOX?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required achieving optimum results should administer Botox. Dr Kim Ross is a Board Certified Dermatologist. A Dermatologist specializes in the skin, which is the largest organ in the body. Dermatologists spend 4 years exclusively studying the structure and function of the skin, hair, and nails. Dr. Ross has been injecting Botox for 7 years.

CAN BOTOX BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
Absolutely! Many patients are very satisfied by combining Botox with dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin such as Restylane and Radiesse. And Medical Grade Microdermabrasion once a month, along with daily usage of KINERASE C6 Peptide Treatment, helps Botox last longer.

    • chemical peel sub header

      WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?
A chemical peel is exactly what it sounds like: Chemical solutions are applied to the damaged skin in order to cause the layers to peel away and reveal younger, healthier layers beneath. Once the dead layer is gone, the new skin heals and provides a glowing appearance. Wrinkles and sun damage are reduced and the skin is much softer.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A CHEMICAL PEEL?
There are many benefits, such as resurfacing leathery sun damaged skin, exfoliating dull dry skin, cleaning clogged pores, minimizing enlarged pores, reducing age spots, improving scaring, increasing circulation, polishing mild imperfections, and stimulating production of new young skin cells and collagen.

      HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
A chemical peel only takes 10 minutes. Normal activities can resume immediately since there is no down time. But, for 2-3 days, it is probably not a good idea to schedule something where you will be self-conscious about your skin flaking off.

      IS IT SAFE?
Yes. Chemical peels have been used for over 100 years to create an even and controlled shedding of damaged skin cells. Reactions to a chemical peel are similar to a sunburn and range from mild to more pronounced. It is very important to avoid any exposure to the sun. Your new skin is very sensitive and susceptible to injury. Always apply a wide spectrum (UVA and UBV blocking) sun block of at least SPF 30 such as ELTA 20 minutes before you go outside. If you have a history of cold sores or Herpes simplex infections, it is very important that you tell Dr. Ross. The sensitivity of your new skin can make you more susceptible to outbreaks.

      DOES IT HURT?
Undergoing a chemical peel does not involve any pain or discomfort. For best results, the night before the peel, and again in the morning, wash your face with a cleanser such as Kinerase, Do not apply any lotions or cosmetics.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS?
Yes there are, and Dr. Ross will advise you which type is best for you. For most people, the Jessners peel is the most suitable type of chemical peel. It contains lactic and salicylic acids as well as resorcinol. For people with acne, the Beta Lift peel, which has a high level of salicylic acid, will be type of chemical peel And for the few people with severe damage the TCA peel that consists of tri chloracitic acid will be the best.

WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR CHEMICAL PEELS?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required achieving optimum results should supervise the administration of chemical peels. Dr. Ross is a Board Certified Dermatologist. A Dermatologist specializes in the skin, which is the largest organ in the body. Dermatologists spend 4 years exclusively studying the structure and function of the skin, hair, and nails.

CAN CHEMICAL PEELS BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TRATMENTS?
Absolutely! Many patients are very happy with the results obtained by having Medical Grade Microdermabrasion immediately followed by a chemical peel. Micodermabrasion removes the upper layer of dead skin, which allows the chemical peel to penetrate deeper and generate better results.

    • hair removal

      HOW DOES IT WORK?
A low energy laser beam is used. As the laser energy passes through the skin, it is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles. This converts the laser energy to heat which kills the follicle cells without damaging surrounding tissue. These cells can never grow hair again.

HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM OTHER HAIR REMOVAL METHODS?
Shaving requires regular daily maintenance and can irritate skin. Razor burn and ingrown hairs are quite common. Tweezing is slow, temporary, and suitable only for small areas. Depilatory creams are messy and offer temporary solutions. Waxing may be painful and hair eventually grows back. It can cause allergic reactions and inflammation of the hair follicles. Electrolysis can leave scarring, is painful, and very time consuming because a needle is actually inserted into each follicle, one at a time.

      ARE ALL LASERS THE SAME?
No! We use the state of the art Candela GentleLASE laser. This revolutionary long pulse alexandrite laser has the largest spot size available, which allows treatment 3 times faster than with other lasers. For example, lower legs or men's backs take less than 45 minutes while the upper lip takes only 5 minutes. Another advantage of a larger spot size is that the laser beam penetrates deeper into the skin, providing better results than with other types of lasers. The Candela GentleLASE protects the skin during treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device where cryogen is sprayed onto the skin, cooling the upper layers to protect the skin and providing patients with increased comfort. We also use the innovative Cutera Cool Glide Vantage laser. This NdYag laser that can safely and effectively treat all skin types, including dark and tanned skin. The cooled hand piece increases patient comfort and minimizes the adverse skin reactions seen with other lasers.

      IS IT SAFE?
Absolutely! According to the American Society for Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery about two million people enjoy Laser Hair Removal every year, making it the second (Botox is first) most requested non surgical cosmetic procedure in the US.

      DOES IT HURT?
Laser Hair removal is virtually painless. As the laser beam is gently guided over your skin, you will feel a slight tingling sensation, often described as a rubber band ping. If needed, a topical anesthetic gel may be applied.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Hair grows in cycles. Only hair that is actively growing on the day of your treatment can be successfully treated. In most body sites, only approximately 30% of the hair follicles will be in their active phase at the same time. Keep in mind that no two persons are the same. Many factors influence hair growth such as age, ethnicity, hormones, diet, medication, metabolism, and even time of year. Each has a part in your hair's location, thickness, and resilience. However. For most persons 5-6 treatments spaced 8-12 weeks apart will result in permanent hair removal.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER EACH TREATMENT?
After the first treatment, most people can expect up to a 15% reduction in hair, up to 20% after the second, up to 30% after the third, up to 60% after the fourth, up to 80% after the fifth, and over 90% after the sixth treatment.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE TREATMENT?
Avoid sun exposure and tanning salons because tanning limits the effectiveness of Laser Hair Removal. Do not pluck, bleach, use depilatories or wax for 30 days prior to treatment because these methods of hair removal take the hair shaft out of the follicle. Stop using retinol products 48 hours prior to treatment. If you have had cold sores or Herpes Simplex it is important to let us know because these may flare with Laser Hair Removal.

      WHAT HAPPENS DURING TREATMENT?
Your skin will be carefully examined and shaved and you will be marked with a red pen to guide the laser. You will need to wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from the laser light during treatment. The laser settings are calibrated to your skin color, hair color and hair texture. Multiple hairs are treated at once, with little or no skin irritation.

      WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TREATMENT?
Immediately after treatment, your skin may be red or feel sunburned. For the first 24 hours, avoid rubbing or scrubbing, very hot showers, excessive perspiration and sun exposure. Be sure to use an effective sun block such as ELTA. Because Laser Hair Removal is a non surgical, non invasive procedure, you can return to work and normal activities right away. Also, for the first 2-3 week after your treatment it will look like your hair is growing. Actually, it is the dead hair being pushed out.

      WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
All areas can be treated except between and around the eyebrows. For women, bikini, face, legs, and underarm are popular areas to treat while for men it is chest, back, and ears.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL EFFECTIVE ON EVERYONE?
No. Laser Hair Removal has no effect on peach fuzz or on grey, red, very blonde, and white hair. Salt and Pepper hair will have a decrease in dark hair, making the white and light gray hair more obvious.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?
Anyone under 18 must be with a legal guardian. Younger teens can be treated with parental consent but at that age hormones can activate the growth of hair, requiring more than 6 treatments.

      CAN I USE ANY ANESTHETIC?
No. You can only use the formula specially created for Dr. Ross and it must be applied by a trained Assistant. That is the only way we can control quality and assure consistent results.

WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required achieving optimum results should supervise the administration of Laser Hair Removal. Dr. Kim Ross is a Board Certified Dermatologist. A Dermatologist specializes in the skin, which is the largest organ in the body. Dermatologists spend 4 years exclusively studying the structure and function of the skin, hair, and nails.

CAN LASER HAIR REMOVAL BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
Absolutely! Many Patients chose to combine Laser Hair Removal with dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin such as Restylane and Radiesse as well as with Botox, which is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles.

Then, after drying, a special moisturizer called Kinerase will be applied.

WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR TREATMENTS?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required achieving optimum results should supervise the administration of Medical Grade Microdermabrasion treatments. Dermatologists spend 4 years exclusively studying the structure and function of skin, hair, and nails.

CAN IT BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Medical Grade Micodermabrasion is also beneficial in extending the life of dermal fillers such as Restylane and Radiesse as well as Botox, a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles.

    • Restalyne / Perlane

      WHAT IS RESTYLANE?
Restylane is an FDA approved natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. It is manufactured in Sweden.

      WHAT IS RESTYLANE MADE OF?
Restylane is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. This is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin for 6 to 12 months.

HOW IS RESTYLANE DIFERENT THAN OTHER PRODUCTS?
Unlike rooster-derived products, Restylane is free from animal protein. This limits the risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.

      IS RESTYLANE SAFE?
Yes. Dermatologists have used Restylane all over the world since 1996. After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will normally last less than 7 days. Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 you should not use Restalyne.

CAN RESTYLANE BE USED ANYWHERE ON THE FACE?
Restylane has been used in more than 3 million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles. In the U.S, the FDA has approved Restylane for wrinkles and folds like the ones from the nose to the corners of the mouth. It is also approved to enhance the appearance of lips.

WHAT SHOULD I DO PRIOR TO TREATMENT?
Restylane does not require pre-testing, but you should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John's Wort, or high doses of vitamin E supplements because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with Dr. Ross.

HOW IS PERLANE DIFFERENT FROM RESTYLANE?
Both are dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin and both are made by the same biotechnical process. The only difference is the gel particle size. Perlane gel particles are larger and designed for deeper injection than Restylane.

    • Spider Vein Removal

      WHAT ARE SPIDER VEINS?
Spider veins are small, discolored blood vessels found on the skin of the face, chest, neck, and legs. They may appear in a sunburst or spider web pattern or as a series of short, unconnected lines. On the legs, they can appear together with varicose veins and may be scattered or concentrated in several areas. They are connected to your larger vein system but they are not necessary for circulation.

      WHAT CAUSES THEM?
Spider veins are the result of several conditions: sun damage, adult acne, pregnancy, occupational factors like standing for extended period of time, hormonal imbalances, and side effects of medications. They are not dangerous, but can noticeably mar otherwise clear skin, making you feel disfigured and appear older than you are. Spider veins can also cause burning, cramping, and swelling in the affected area.

      WHO GETS THEM?
Spider veins can occur in both men and women. More frequently, females request spider vein removal on their legs. Men are often more concerned about visible veins on their faces and necks.

      HOW ARE SPIDER VEINS TREATED?
SCLEROTHERAPY is a non-surgical procedure that has been used for over 50 years to permanently remove spider veins from legs, faces, necks, and chests. A special solution is injected into the blood vessel that causes the vein to be absorbed and permanently disappear. Treatments do not require anesthesia. Dr. Ross can advise you as to how many treatments you will need for your veins to completely disappear. Usually 1-3 treatments are all that is required. Nd: Yag LASER TREATMENT is another popular option for treating spider veins. As light is absorbed by the blood vessels, they shrivel up and dissolve into the normal skin. Laser treatments are performed without sedation. The Nd:Yag laser is also used to reduce severe redness of the nose and cheek caused by rosacea.

      DOES SPIDER VEIN REMOVAL HURT?
Most of our patients are surprised at how easy it is to remove unsightly spider veins. Both methods of spider vein removal are virtually painless.

      ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Since there are no incisions, you will have minimal side effects. You can return to your normal activities immediately following treatment. You may experience temporary symptoms such as redness or bruising. Depending on your treatment plan, we may recommend that you wear compression stockings for a short time.

WHERE SHOULD I GO FOR SPIDER VEIN TREATMENTS?
Only a licensed professional with the knowledge and skill required achieving optimum results should treat spider veins. Dr. Kim Ross is a Board Certified Dermatologist. A Dermatologist specializes in the skin, which is the largest organ in the body. Dermatologists spend 4 years exclusively studying the structure and function of the hair, skin, and nails. Dr. Ross has been treating spider veins for 7 years.

CAN SPIDER VEIN REMOVAL BE COMBINED WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?
Absolutely! Many patients also take advantage of the visit to Dr. Ross for Botox, a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles as well as for popular dermal fillers like Restylane and Radiesse.
